Book launches and conferences by Sheila Johnson
As many of you will know, I helped to edit and launch a book in August about a most amazing Ethiopian woman, Jember Teferra, who saved thousands in Addis Ababa from terrible poverty.
Now, after hosting three parties in my home, mainly to people who knew or had some connection to Jember, I now have the privilege of taking the book to two more book conferences in Stroud.
The first in October will be interesting as I'm not sure if I am possibly the only Christian with a book stall. Many of the authors seem to publish Sci-Fi or Fantasy, so that will be interesting! The only qualification to enrol being that of being an Indie author.
I am on firmer ground with the second one at the beginning of November which has been organised by ACW member, Brendan Conboy, poet and local author in Stroud.
There are a number of familiar faces on the poster here from all over the country, but all Christian authors, and some of us even have the chance to do a presentation for the event. But not only this, you will see at the top of the poster, two keynote speakers - Revd Ruth Rice on the Thursday evening, and Patrick Regan from Kintsugi Hope on the Friday evening. Yes, this is an event that goes on for three days. How great is that! Thank you to Brendan for organising it in Stroud once again.
There aren't always that many events for Indie authors or Christian authors to present their work to others outside of the ACW. Let's seize every chance and opportunity we can.
Sheila Johnson lives in Cheltenham and is a qualified
journalist who has written for a number of publications both local and
national. She has also written two books under her pen name Sheila Donald,
Alpha Male and Waireka. She has also recently edited, Bible Reflections from a
life devoted to the poor by Jember Teferra. Her website can be found at www.journojohnson.com
Stroud is certainly showing us what can be done to promote Christian authors. Well done Brandan for organising the event and also you Sheila for seizing this opportunity to publicise this. May God bless all taking part and all who are thinking of going along.
ReplyDeleteIndeed. Great initiative on his part.
DeleteLovely post , Sheila! Thanks. That was an interesting project you embarked on with Dr Jemba Tefarra! Wishing you all the best with the promotion of the book. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sophia. She was an amazing woman.
DeleteThanks, Sheila for your praise. I also thank God for the vision and provision, especially for the authors who have caught the vision and are making it what it is. Bless you.
