The Eternal Wall of Answered Prayer

…Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’  tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.”                Joshua 4: 5-7

As writers we have a great opportunity to play our part in the Eternal Wall of Answered Prayer.  The above picture is how this monument will look when built. It is to be situated between the M42 and M6 Motorways and it is estimated with cars, trains and planes from Birmingham Airport that 500,000 journeys will pass the site each week.  You may already know this is to be a memorial to the Lord who keeps and watches over us.  And it would seem in perfect timing as we come out of the wilderness of this year.  Many people will start the new year with a different perspective on life, and as Christians I am sure our prayer is that people will find Jesus as their source of hope and be envisioned for their future.

To build this Wall will take a million bricks. The aim that each brick will be associated to a personal answered prayer. Those passing by, or visiting the site will be able to access those testimonies with mobile devices.

Where better to advertise this opportunity than to writers who love the Lord and wish their writing to touch and change lives.  This is an opportunity to leave a living legacy to the generations that follow, that God is good and our experience of Him in our lives.

There are two ways of doing this.  You can visit their site and write your answered prayer there, https://www.eternalwall.org.uk/testimony or send in an email with the subject heading: ‘answered prayer’.  Last year I submitted three written testimonies which like this blog shouldn't be longer than  five hundred words.  There is no limit to the number of bricks and testimonies you have.

I don’t know how many ACW members there are in these days, or readers of this blog, but membership I’d assume would be in excess of two thousand. The Wall at present only has around 15,000 bricks associated to answers, which is a long way from the million they need to fulfil the vision.  Can we help them, by recounting our answers even to what we might consider our most mundane requests? And maybe we could encourage and help others of our family and church friends write their testimonies.

As a supporter of this Project, I know in January there will be launched an ‘Answered Prayer Challenge” in conjunction with Premier Radio.  This is for those who are active on social media, and would prefer to tell their story in a video.  The idea on the lines of the ice bucket challenge that took off on Facebook last year.  One person in telling of their answered prayer, nominates three others to do the same, so the numbers of answers progressively grows. If you would like to start one, or know of people who might be willing to get involved, sign up as a volunteer for more details.

To inspire you: videos, pictures and story of the vision given to one man 17 years ago and the Lord’s continual timing and provision, can be found on their website: https://www.eternalwall.org.uk

To both writers on the blog and readers of it may you all know the peace and joy of Christmas and have a renewed and envisioned hope for 2021.

  3. I wrote about it on the blog on 25 November and am so glad you have also flagged it up, Ruth, with more insider information. I think this will be such an important beacon of hope to the nation by the time it is completed in 2022. I have one brick certificate but will send in more next year and spread the word.
