The Beauty of Collaboration by Peculiar Medinus

“God bless you and your writing in 2024. Love, Melanie”

That is the concluding part of the first email I received from my Association of Christian Writers (ACW) group leader this year. While I cannot share the full content to respect my group leader’s privacy, it was a heartfelt encouragement for my blog post in 2023. Reflecting on the support I've received since joining the group five years ago, what stood out was my leader's foreword to my book, "The Bunch: An Anthology on the Fruit of the Spirit." It beautifully captured the essence of collaboration, which is central to this blog.

Writing might be a solitary act, but the end product often emerges from a web of connections, support, and shared ideas. In a digital age where self-publishing can make any writer an island, it's more important than ever to reacquaint ourselves with the value of community in our creative endeavours. Whether through peer feedback, joint publications, or supportive critique, collaboration can enhance not only the written word but also the experience of writing itself.

Group efforts in writing often result in collaborative projects and shared blogs weaving individual voices into a cohesive tapestry, showcasing the strengths of each contributor.

With endorsements for my book and contributions from co-writers of my devotionals, ACW is a testament to the power of community in creativity. It has flourished into a professional network that has propelled members towards their individual and collective goals. By exchanging perspectives and honing their craft in tandem, ACW group members leverage the power of collective insight.

In our group meetings, much like the biblical adage in Ecclesiastes 4:10, "one will lift up his fellow", we have the space where each writer can be that 'one', lifting and being lifted in an intricate dance of support and inspiration.

Group efforts in writing often result in collaborative projects and shared blogs weaving individual voices into a cohesive tapestry, showcasing the strengths of each contributor.

In Melanie's message lies an indelible truth—the blessing of collaboration is not merely a wish for the new year but one of mutual support, growth, and inspiration. For the authors and professional writers of today and tomorrow, the call is clear: seek out your community, hold fast to your allies, and never underestimate the profound beauty of collaboration.

I find discussions about Judas endlessly interesting, and I always end up with questions. Did God pick out Judas to betray Jesus? Was that His plan from the beginning? Why did He need to do this? Isaiah spoke of God like this. 'I have swept away your offences like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you.' God often makes it clear that the killing kind of sacrifice is not what He wants. Enough questions for one day, I think.
