It's not often I read YA books but I have dipped my toe in the water a couple of times recently and found I enjoyed them. I liked the premise of this one so decided to give it a go. I am so glad I did. I got caught up in the story, and I am sure you will too.
The basic premise of the story is that Kat, an Anestrian princess, is to be crowned queen of Anestra. This will happen on her 18th Birthday, which at the start of the book is only a few days away. Kat decides to run away and is captured by slavers. She is rescued and has to get back to her Kingdom to save it from an opposing Kingdom.
This leads to a book which is packed full of adventure, excitement and surprises. It takes the reader on a ride so fast and twisted they often find themselves running to catch up. Kat is an excellent character rounded, with depth an humour. She is aided in her quest by a group of unlikely allies, who are committed to helping her return to Anestra. These are also characters which are lovable.
As I say, there are many surprises and twists and turns in this book. These will keep you reading right up to the last page. This is a book which I can highly recommend.

I was given a copy of this book from the publisher in order to provide a fair review. At no time was I asked to provide a positive review. This is based on my reading, and enjoyment, of this book.
