Great Marketing

I recently went for a physio appointment at our local hospital.  After parking the car, and the usual chaos sorting out the payment, I rushed through the car park and there, right beside the main entrance, was the most colourful, outstanding bookstall I had ever seen.  The bright orange marquee stood out, like a spaceship had just landed.  The tables were covered in the most beautifully illustrated children’s books. I just had to stop, even though I knew it would make me a few minutes late for my appointment.

I chatted briefly to the gentleman behind the tables, who had started putting the books away in boxes, so I picked up a couple and they were so easy and very pleasant to read.  The gentleman told me that he was in fact the author of the books.  There were 6 different titles, and they all related to tigers.  I said I would go to my appointment and buy a couple when I come out, as I needed to get a present for my nephew, and they seemed the perfect gift.

By the time I went back to the bookstall, most of the books had been put away, but there were enough of each to have a look through them.  He told me that the tigers in the books were actual tigers that he had worked with, and the stories were based on events that happened with the tigers, which made them even more special.  I bought a couple of each, and he kindly signed all of them.

I then mentioned, casually, that I am an author too and we chatted about publishing.  It was very interesting talking to him. He said he used to use a publishing company, but now he self-publishes, and it is much better.  He also uses an illustrator in Poland, which is a lot cheaper.

It was so nice to see his beautiful bookstall, and a blessing brightening up the hospital, and also to be able to chat with him about his true stories.  What a great marketing idea.  I wish I had taken a photo to show you in this blog.

God always seems to give us opportunities to meet people for a reason.  I was also able to speak to him about my book, my mum’s miracle healing testimony, and that took us on to another subject, which I hope blessed him too.

Derrice has written a book called “Glenna’s Angel – A Miracle from God” when God sent an Angel to her mother and healed her instantly in the ambulance from a near-death stroke.  It changed her mother’s life from that day on. The book is on Amazon and can be obtained in bookstores worldwide.

  1. Loved that. You couldn’t make it up! And so good you could swap tiger stories with miraculous healing. And so true that God gives us opportunities to meet people for a reason.
