Beauty all around us
Last Monday, 30 March, just after 7.00 pm I walked out of a shop in a busy shopping centre in Orpington, to the most beautiful, breathtaking sunset I have ever seen, as shown in the photo above. It wasn’t there when I went into the shop, and to my absolute surprise, there it was like a gigantic painting, suspended in the sky. I immediately got my phone out and started taking photos. I noticed one or two other people doing the same. The photo doesn’t actually give it justice, as it was one of the most awesome and largest scenes in the sky that I have ever come across. My first thought was that it was a sign from God placed there for everyone to see, and the words “Jesus is coming” flowed from within me to a gentleman nearby who was also in awe of it, taking photos and who replied “Yes, He is coming soon”. I love the wonderful, special connection you feel with brothers and sisters in Christ, even though you have never met before, and may only meet for a brief moment in time.
I looked around at some of the other people, and wondered what they were thinking about this beautiful sunset; what did it actually mean to them. Was it just another lovely sunset; were they taking photos because they had never seen anything like it, or to show their family and friends, or did it have a deeper meaning to them, as it did to me and this other gentleman.
How many people were just going along and not particularly bothered by it. I find it interesting to see how people react to something, especially as big as this.
I also thought about the timing of this happening, a few days before Good Friday. It felt to me that this was even more of a reason for it to be a blessing from God.
I love this photo of these beautiful flowers that I took on my way to Church on Good Friday
Early morning on Good Friday, when I opened the curtains at home, looking out of my window I was drawn to the people going by. Some walking their dogs, families out together, people at the bus stop, others carrying shopping, some looking like they had all the worries of the world on their heavy hearts, and I wondered what God must be thinking when He looks down from Heaven to earth at all of us going about our daily business. I felt sorry for the ones who looked so burdened, and wondered just how small some burdens are to God and how He loves us so much that He came to give us hope and eternal life, and to cast all our burdens on Him. And the wonderful reminder that Jesus is coming back.
We are all here for a purpose, whether we believe in God or not, one day we will understand. As I think of the astronauts on their way to the moon, they were born for that purpose, and thankfully we all do have a purpose, each of us, for the world we live in, a God given gift, and some are writers.

Sorry about the mistake in the date in my blog, it should have said “Last Monday 30 March”.
