A Christmas Ditty.......! from Ruth Johnson

"For unto us a Child is born,  Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder.  And His name will be called,  Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

"Of the increase of His government and peace  There will be no end,  Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,  To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this."           Isaiah 9:6-7

What wonderful promises the Bible has for us all in these days of division and confusion. It is only four days to our celebration of Jesus' birth and those who know their God can enjoy the peace He brings.  May we all continue to ask for 'God's will be done'  for His answer to this prayer will always be 'yes' and 'amen'.

At a recent ACW group we were asked to write something on a Christmas theme and as my genre is 400 page novels to romance the soul and spirit, I thought to attempt something different and wrote this little ditty, and leave you to judge my poetry skills!

What shall I do
To make my words few?

Maybe with time
The verses will rhyme

Read as a rap,
And let your foot tap

A Christmas theme
Time to fulfil the dream

It begins with a star
People coming from afar

In the darkest night
The shepherds took fright

Peace on earth
Sang angels heralding a birth

God is in sight
In a babe swaddled in white

God's Son, the King
Born as man who'll take away sin

Wise men did meet
Their journey finds Jesus to greet

Born to bring light
But forced to take flight

Love divine
Making salvation mine

Two thousand years on
There’s a different song

Signs in the east
Foretell of a beast

Jesus birth
A subject of mirth

It’s a good tale
But now grown stale

Peace in our time
Much in decline

Gifts are bought
Rarely a King is sought

Go into debt
No need to fret

Greed and feed
Spend don’t lend

Love is fine
If you toe the party line

On Christmas Day
What shall we say?

Bless these sinners
As they eat their turkey dinners

Jesus birth is true
Carols - God’s Word to you

Hark the angels sing
Feast on the worship they bring

Jesus is the reason
To celebrate this season

His life for ours
With the gift of His powers

Pray His Will be done
And His Kingdom will come.

And the New Year
With Jesus we've nothing to fear.

So let us proclaim
In all things King Jesus does reign
