A box full of Inspiration

As I start to write my blog, I am amazed that it is March already.  It didn’t seem long ago that I started putting into action my list of ‘New Year’s Resolutions’.  I have totally forgotten what they all were, but I do remember thinking that I needed to make some changes, for the better, and that they only seemed to last for a couple of days, at the beginning of January.

Life is so busy for everyone, and I really need to get motivated with my writing. I know what I need to do, but there always seems to be something, everyday, that we have to do and I am not getting enough time to myself. People tell me to put aside specific times, but when I do, something happens which almost always needs my full attention, usually in person.

I was recently going through some boxes that I had packed up when I moved house almost two years ago.  Again, something I have been meaning to do, and I came across lots of things from my past; Letters and cards, photographs.  I sat for hours reminiscing, and loving every minute of it, finding humour in things that seemed so serious at the time, like most of the birthday cards that I had kept from my mum and dad, where my mum had written a whole page on the card, lecturing me on how I am an adult now and need to grow up and be more responsible, and in the same card, she had crossed my dad’s signature off with her pen, as they had had yet    another argument, so that the card was just signed from her.  So much for sorting, I ended up spending hours on just one box, and then it got too late to do anything else so I stuffed everything back in the box again for a later date, when I have more time.

It wasn’t wasted though, because those special memories that I was looking through, have given me so much inspiration for my writing again, and I feel full of excitement and ideas, and just from that one box, I could write many books and articles.

I have also been following Lent, in prayer everyday, and I make sure that I get that special time with God, and reflecting. I have recently joined the Hallow Prayer App, which I highly recommend.  It has lots of different things on it, like daily reflections, night prayers, morning prayers, devotionals, music, and including praying through Lent, but I originally got it for the Bible in a Year read by Father Mike Schmitz. He explains everything so well, and it is beautifully structured. I found the Old Testament so easy to understand, and look forward to hearing it every day,  and can see more clearly how it all comes together in God’s plan for us today.

God bless.

  1. A lovely post amd interesting tales. I love reading old letters and old cards. I must sort more of my old notebooks too but know I'll spend more time reading them. Though there must be something inspirational in there to develop.
Thanksfor reminding me to look at them sometime soon.

  2. God bless you, too, Derrice! What a beautiful, heartfelt post. Thank you! You make us remember we are all writers dealing with procrastination, life, busy busy, etc., but through it all, YOU did not forget your God! You remind me of the two sisters, Mary and Martha! You have chosen the most important aspect - giving time to God. Blessings.
