MAKING THE MOST OF IT!

This month’s blog post just happens to coincide with my 50th birthday!

People keep asking me how it feels to be turning fifty.  If I’m honest, I'm experiencing a whole mixture of feelings!  Firstly, there’s a sense of excitement.  Of stepping over a threshold.  A new chapter perhaps?

But of course, if I’m honest, there’s also some trepidation.  Disbelief too.  I keep looking at the number on the front of my birthday cards with a feeling of disconnect.  Fifty?  Who me?  Am I really that old?  Where on earth has the time gone?

The milestones in our lives; birthdays, anniversaries and even the arrival of a New Year; are wonderful moments of celebration and thanksgiving.  But they can certainly make us stop and think about the brevity of life.

The bible says:

Be very careful then how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. (Ephesians 5:15-16)

Today, and every day, I want to make the most of every opportunity!

Tis The Season!

We have just entered the season of Advent.  The countdown to another big birthday - the most important in all of history.  It got me to thinking. As Christian Writers, how can we wisely seize the opportunity that the Christmas period offers us?

How can we creatively share the good news of great joy about the Heavenly baby that came to save us?

We all have unique voices and different ways of saying things – but here are a few ideas I’ve used over the past few years

  • A short story about a stressed-out woman, who reluctantly attends a Christingle service and is strangely moved by the words of a carol;
  • A Poem that tells the Christmas Story, written for our church carol service;
  •  A humorous blog post, with a Christian message, about the year I burnt the Turkey!
  • A Christmas Countdown - 24 blog posts featuring a favourite Christmas story, decoration, memory, poem or song for every day of Advent

How about you?  What do you love to write?  What creative ways could you share the good news over Christmas?  It could be an article, or some song lyrics, a drama sketch, a poem to pop inside a Christmas Card, or even a podcast.

I’d love to hear your ideas.  Let me know in the comments below!

In closing – never underestimate the power of your words!  They can be such a light in the darkness, just like those twinkling lights on the mantlepiece!

    Happy birthday Angela. I’ve just turned 60 and am feeling a lot of the same emotions plus a whole heap of medication I didn’t use to need. 🙃. Lovely writing prompts for inspiration too. Thank you.

  3. Great insights in this article! The discussion around R-Lume Tablets and their role in combating malaria highlights the importance of accessible and effective treatments, especially in high-risk regions. Similarly, understanding the benefits of Tramaclass 50 Capsules for managing hypertension is crucial for patients seeking reliable solutions to maintain cardiovascular health. I also found the section on Imuclav BID 30 ml Syrup particularly helpful, as it offers parents a comprehensive guide to using antibiotics for children’s infections responsibly. Medications like these play a vital role in addressing critical health concerns, and it’s essential to raise awareness about their proper use. Thanks for sharing such valuable information!
