Someone else may be suffering a crisis of self-worth, and find such things crushing - and they will be alone with the feeling. What is real encouragement? Well, it is genuine interest, listening, and above all thinking before we leap into speech ... low self-esteem is part of being an artist of any kind, because we are what we create ... and even if we know the God loves us, we don't necessarily feel that He does - it's our human community which conveys the idea to us - rightly said, all the things we do together ... okay, blogpost over, I wasn't meaning to write one!Mari Howardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05606125048044373268noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1643092331729126387.post-67631434288486617412015-08-20T21:23:38.513+01:002015-08-20T21:23:38.513+01:00In the light of these thoughts, I also think that ...In the light of these thoughts, I also think that it is very important that we as Christian writers remember to give each other encouragement, real encouragement, not just 'like' etc on FB, and to think before we celebrate too wildly our own successes e.g. in the 'I've got a contract'! way. I like your idea of looking at our writing differently, in a more servant-hearted way. It reminds me of C.S.Lewis's words, that humility consists not in thinking less of ourselves but in thinking of ourselves less - which of course is the essence of successful living in community.rosbayeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12682832936395894834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1643092331729126387.post-46953266547852620232015-08-20T09:17:13.990+01:002015-08-20T09:17:13.990+01:00Those are very relevant words. We adjust, and then want more, bigger successes. (I say 'we'. This may just be 'me'!) On the other hand, I'll get back to you when I actually have someone say 'We want to publish your book because we think it's marvellous' and let you know if it made any difference!Fran Hillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07935088780461825341noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1643092331729126387.post-45621325987661337592015-08-20T08:44:55.964+01:002015-08-20T08:44:55.964+01:00Thanks Sue - I think we are taught to excel as ind...Thanks Sue - I think we are taught to excel as individuals and we can lose the bigger picture as you say.
